Walsall CCG values its partnerships and will continue to form new ones and develop existing ones to ensure there is a holistic approach to improving the health and wellbeing of the local population.
A strong relationship is being built with patients and the public, members, staff, and our partners. When it comes to clinicians, the CCG has a joint clinical forum with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and the Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
We also have effective partnerships with Walsall Health and Wellbeing Board and Walsall Council. Alongside the delivery of its commissioning priorities, the CCG works closely with its local authority partner to tackle health inequalities. The main focus of this collaboration is on improving life expectancy, reducing infant mortality, physical activity, alcohol, smoking and drug use, encouraging a positive diet and lifestyle, and community management of long-term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
We also work closely with the voluntary and independent sector. Examples include working with Alzheimer’s Society to trial a dementia screening tool in GP surgeries and at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, and with Walsall Cardiac Rehabilitation Trust (Walsall Heart Care) on a cardiac rehabilitation programme and a pulmonary rehabilitation service. We have ongoing partnerships with Healthwatch Walsall and One Walsall who provide public assurance at all of our committees.
