Patient and public involvement is essential in developing, improving and monitoring health and care services.
The Patient Participation and Liaison Group (PPLG) is made up of local people who represent and Chair Patient Participation Groups across Walsall’s 52 GP practices.
The PPLG meets quarterly to support Patient Participation Groups to represent the views of their local communities and influence effective patient and public engagement within GP practices. The meeting is also an opportunity to network and share best practice, ensuring that people’s experiences of GP services are used to improve the health and care of people in Walsall.
Members have co-produced their terms of reference for the group, which is available to download below:

Walsall CCG held a workshop with patient representatives, commissioners, representatives of voluntary sector organisations and Healthwatch Walsall to develop a Charter to summarise and pledge the commitments of all stakeholders towards patient participation.
Delegates talked openly and frankly about their visions for Patient Participation Groups (PPGs), the challenges they face in terms of recruitment and fair representation, and what the measures of success for these groups should be.
The session was a tremendous success, with delegates feeding back that the afternoon made them feel valued and with a renewed energy for increasing participation in Walsall.
