You said, we did

Walsall CCG, Wolverhampton CCG, Birmingham and Solihull CCG, Dudley CCG, and Sandwell & West Birmingham CCG, are working together to secure an Infertility/ Assisted Conception Service.

In August 2019, we invited local people, who have accessed assisted conception services in the last five years, including their relatives, to share their views on what the future service should look like, by completing an online survey. The survey covered areas such as accessibility, design of the services, monitoring and feedback, and overall patient experience.

Commissioners have reviewed the survey results and the views and experiences of 63 people across the Black Country and Birmingham have helped inform the service description for assisted conception.

What we learned

In particular, what we heard from local people was the need for more shared-decision making and better-personalised care and support plans in place for assisted conception. These areas have been incorporated into the service description as a result of the survey.
