Patients, commissioners and the voluntary sector come together to develop Patient Participation Charter

On Tuesday 19th February 2019, Walsall CCG held a workshop with patient representatives, commissioners, representatives of voluntary sector organisations and Healthwatch Walsall to develop a Charter to summarise and pledge the commitments of all stakeholders towards patient participation.

Delegates talked openly and frankly about their visions for Patient Participation Groups (PPGs), the challenges they face in terms of recruitment and fair representation, and what the measures of success for these groups should be.

The afternoon was a tremendous success, with delegates feeding back that the afternoon made them feel valued and with a renewed energy for increasing participation in Walsall. A draft Charter has been created, which will now be reviewed by the wider Patient Participation Liaison Group.
