Public Health and the Football Association collaborate for the Heads Up campaign

Every Mind Matters have collaborated with the Heads Up campaign, a partnership between Heads Together and The Football Association (FA), to harness the power of football to encourage fans to take simple actions to look after their mental health.

In life, as in football, we all go through highs and lows. Every Mind Matters’ ‘Mind Plan’ tool allows football fans to create a personalised action plan, recommending a set of self-care actions to deal with stress, boost mood, improve sleep and feel more in control.

There are over 15 million football fans in England, 69% of whom are men, and ff the 78% of men who have experienced early signs of mental health concerns in the last year, just under half (45%) said they’d never taken self-care actions to manage their mental health.

This weekend, all 32 fixtures in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round will be delayed by one minute to encourage football fans to ‘Take A Minute’ to start making small changes to look after their mental health as part of a collaboration between Heads Up and Every Mind Matters.

A new 60-second film by Every Mind Matters and Heads Up narrated by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and starring famous football talent will be played, where possible, in stadia ahead of Emirates FA Cup Third Round matches to champion the importance of taking simple actions to look after our mental health.

Football fans are encouraged to create their own ‘Mind Plan’, a quick, free, online tool from Every Mind Matters. Clinically assured by the NHS, it has already been completed over one million times.
